In the United Cup, Jacob Mensik from the Czech Republic recorded a notable victory against Norway’s Casper Ruud with scores of 7-5, 7-6(6) on Monday in Sydney.
Mensik maintained composure throughout both sets, securing a crucial break at 5-5 in the first set and serving out to take the lead. In the second set, after missing a chance to close the match at 5-4, he made an impressive comeback.
Trailing 3-5 in the tie-break of the second set, Mensik won five of the next six points. The 20-year-old, who won the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami last year, executed a cross-court forehand pass while facing a set point at 5-6.
