New Delhi, May 17: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has made it clear that Tehran seeks a resolution through dialogue, emphasizing the need for patience and serious discussions. He warned that if war is imposed again, the outcome will be the same as before.
According to a post on the social media platform ‘X’ by the Iranian Embassy in India, Araghchi stated, “This is a matter of war and peace. If they want a solution through dialogue, they must be patient, as reaching the right solution requires complex and extensive discussions. If they wish to wage war again, that is their choice. They have tested us before, and they can do so again, but the result will not be different.”
This statement from the Iranian Foreign Minister follows comments made by former US President Donald Trump, who shared an AI-generated image and message stating, “This is the calm before the storm.”
In the image posted on social media, Trump is seen wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat alongside a US Navy Admiral, standing on a naval ship amidst stormy seas and lightning. Iranian vessels are also visible in the background, heightening the signs of potential conflict. This post is widely interpreted as a message directed at Tehran.
Trump has issued a veiled warning regarding the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Reports suggest he is discussing the possibility of resuming airstrikes on Iran with his top advisors.
The New York Times has claimed that Trump is preparing to make a significant decision regarding Iran, with his aides reportedly discussing alternative plans for new air operations should diplomatic efforts fail.
In recent statements, Trump has also warned that if a peace agreement is not reached soon, Iran will face dire consequences. In a telephone interview with French broadcaster BFMTV, he remarked, “They are interested in reaching an agreement.”
