Irans Foreign Minister Claims US Lucas Drone Targets Arab Nations

Tehran, March 16: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has asserted that the United States and Israel are launching attacks on Arab nations from various locations in West Asia. He made these remarks during an interview with the pan-Arab news outlet Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed.

According to Xinhua News Agency, Zarif stated that Iran is prepared to establish a joint committee to meet with regional countries and investigate the nature of the attack targets.

He emphasized that Iran’s attacks are solely aimed at US bases and interests, responding to assaults initiated from these sites.

Zarif claimed that the US has developed a drone named “Lucas,” similar to Iran’s Shahed 136 drone, intended for targeting locations in Arab nations.

He accused Israel of targeting Arab civilians and damaging relations with Iran, stating, “So far, Iran has not targeted any civilian or residential areas in the region.”

Zarif mentioned ongoing communications with neighbors like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, noting that regional countries are mediating to propose ideas for reducing tensions and ending warfare.

Commenting on the Strait of Hormuz, Zarif declared it open to all except US and US-allied vessels.

He described Iran’s situation as stable, asserting that there are no faults within the state or military institutions, and that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is in good health and fully in control.

According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated on Sunday that there is no connection between Iran and the recent drone attacks in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh region and Eastern Province.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that Zarif spoke with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian on Saturday night to discuss the regional situation.

Zarif reiterated that the US and Israel are the sole causes of insecurity in West Asia and the Gulf of Hormuz, urging all nations to condemn the “criminal acts” of the attackers on Iran and to avoid escalating conflicts.

He pointed out that Israel’s “aggression and dominance” is the root cause of instability in Lebanon, asserting that peace there depends on ending Israel’s “occupation, assaults, and invasions.”

On February 28, Israel and the US conducted joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities, resulting in the deaths of Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, senior military commanders, and civilians.

In retaliation, Iran targeted US and Israeli bases and assets across the Middle East through waves of missile and drone attacks.
