Tehran, April 25: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi departed on Friday night for a diplomatic tour of Pakistan, Oman, and Russia. The primary goal of this visit is to strengthen bilateral relations with partner nations and discuss the current regional situation.
Araghchi shared details of his trip on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “I am heading to Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow. The purpose of these visits is to establish close coordination on bilateral matters with our partners and consult on regional developments. Our neighbors are our priority.”
According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, the aim of Araghchi’s visit is to engage in discussions regarding the latest events in the region and the current situation in West Asia.
Earlier in the day, Araghchi spoke with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar over the phone. They discussed regional conditions and the ceasefire.
Araghchi’s visit to Pakistan comes at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has indicated that if negotiations fail, the U.S. may consider military action against Iran again. However, he also mentioned that he is not in a hurry.
Trump stated, “I could reach an agreement immediately… but I want a lasting deal.” He added that if Iran does not comply, he would take military action to eliminate the remaining 25 percent of targets.
These statements come amid a backdrop of recent clashes that, while slightly calmed, remain unstable. Trump claims that the U.S. has significantly diminished Iran’s military capabilities in just a few weeks.
He noted that they have targeted approximately 75 percent of their objectives and reported considerable damage to Iran’s navy, air force, and missile systems.
