Washington, May 23: President Donald Trump has asserted that Iran is eager to engage in negotiations following recent US military actions. He stated that Iran’s military capabilities have suffered significant damage, and the US will not allow the country to develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
Speaking at a rally in Rockland County, New York, Trump emphasized that the US military has dealt a substantial blow to Iran. He warned that Washington will not permit Tehran to advance its nuclear weapons program.
Trump told his supporters, “Iran’s navy is finished, its air force is destroyed, everything is in ruins. Their top leaders are no longer around. But if you read fake news, you might think everything is fine. That is absolutely not the case. They are desperate to negotiate.”
Later, while discussing energy prices and the US economy, Trump reiterated the issue of Iran. He stated, “We will have to go to the Middle East because if we don’t stop them, Iran will develop nuclear weapons. But we have stopped them.”
He emphasized, “Iran will never acquire nuclear weapons. That will never be allowed.”
Linking tensions with Iran to US national security and economic strategy, Trump noted that stability in the Middle East could lead to lower oil prices worldwide. He remarked, “As soon as I resolve the Iran issue, there will be a significant drop in oil prices.”
During the rally, Trump praised the US military, declaring, “Right now, the US military is the most powerful in the world. No one has weapons and military equipment like ours.”
He referred to “Operation Epic Fury” and labeled Iran as “the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the world.” He stated, “They create problems by sending money worldwide. That will no longer be tolerated.”
Trump also claimed that under his leadership, America’s global strength has been restored, contrasting it with the perceived weakness during former President Joe Biden’s tenure. He recounted a meeting with the King of Saudi Arabia, who remarked that America had been weak but is now regaining strength.
He praised his tariff policies and economic plans, asserting that despite global tensions, the US economy remains robust.
As Trump spoke about Iran, supporters at the rally cheered loudly and chanted “USA, USA.” The event primarily focused on issues like immigration, crime, and tax cuts, but Trump consistently returned to topics of foreign policy and military strength.
