Washington, April 8: Iran has until 8 PM Eastern Time tonight to reach an agreement with the United States. This strict deadline was set by President Donald Trump amid escalating tensions. White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt discussed this matter with news agencies on Tuesday.
Levitt stated, “The Iranian government has until 8 PM to understand this opportunity and negotiate with the U.S. Only the President knows the current situation and what steps will be taken next.”
Her comments come at a time when Trump has publicly warned of significant threats while also hinting at potential political changes within Iran.
On social media, Trump wrote, “Tonight, an entire civilization could end, never to return. I do not want that, but it may happen.” He also suggested that a major change might be on the horizon, indicating that with a complete shift in power, more rational and less extremist individuals could emerge, leading to potentially positive developments. “Who knows?” he added.
Trump emphasized the importance of this moment, stating, “Tonight we will find out; this could be one of the most significant moments in the long and complex history of the world.”
Earlier, Vice President JD Vance mentioned that the U.S. aims to change Iran’s behavior, but a path to de-escalation remains open if Iran engages in dialogue.
Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated that the U.S. is prepared to take strong measures to protect its interests and secure vital global energy routes.
These statements clearly convey a unified message from the government: a strict deadline, warnings of serious consequences, and ongoing pressure on the Iranian government.
In recent days, U.S. military actions have intensified, targeting sites linked to Iran, raising the risk of a larger conflict in the region.
