Mumbai, April 4: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy announced on Saturday that it has conducted a drone attack on a commercial vessel linked to Israel, setting it ablaze.
The IRGC Navy reported on the social media platform X that the attack occurred in the Strait of Hormuz. In a statement released through its official news agency, Sepah News, it was revealed that the Israeli-owned ship named “MCS Ishika” was targeted while docked at Bahrain’s Khalifa bin Salman Port.
According to Iran, the vessel was operating under the flag of a third country and was struck by a “powerful projectile.” This incident marks the 95th attack in a series targeting U.S. and Israeli positions in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed on the same day that it had launched attacks on several key military sites in Tehran. The IDF stated that these strikes targeted IRGC air defense systems, ballistic missile storage facilities, and sites related to weapon research and production.
The IDF emphasized that these operations are part of a strategy to weaken Iran’s military capabilities.
Reports indicate that prior to these developments, two U.S. fighter jets were involved in an incident resulting from an Iranian attack, leading to one pilot being rescued while another remains missing.
Additionally, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that at least five individuals were injured in U.S.-Israeli attacks on petrochemical companies in the southwestern province of Khuzestan. The affected companies include Fajr-1 and 2, Regal, Amir Kabir, Bandar Imam, and Bu Ali Sina. Local officials have warned that the death toll may rise. The Shalamcheh border trade terminal in Khorramshahr was also severely damaged in the attacks.
It has been reported that the Mahshahr Special Petrochemical Zone has been evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Notably, on February 28, Israel and the United States conducted joint strikes on several Iranian cities, including Tehran, resulting in the deaths of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior military officials and civilians. In retaliation, Iran has been consistently launching missile and drone attacks on Israeli and U.S. targets.
