Tehran, May 8: Tensions are rising again between the United States and Iran following a two-week ceasefire. Attacks have resumed in the Strait of Hormuz from both sides. Meanwhile, Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Areif has asserted that the Iranian people will soon celebrate a significant victory against the US and Israel in this ongoing conflict.
According to Islamic Times, Vice President Areif made this statement while assessing the damage to health facilities and industries. He emphasized that the country will soon celebrate victory, highlighting the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz to Iran.
During his visit to the National Petrochemical Company, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines, and the Food and Drug Administration, Areif stated that reconstruction efforts are progressing, and sanctions will be lifted alongside the anticipated victory for the Iranian people.
“We will soon celebrate our victory, and the bans and pressures that have burdened our country for years will be removed,” he declared.
While inspecting the shipping group, Areif reiterated Iran’s commitment to managing the Strait of Hormuz. He described the waterway as strategically vital for Iran, assuring that under Iranian control, it will remain secure, benefiting all regional countries. Areif expressed that Iran seeks regional cooperation rather than dominance, aiming to transform the area into an economic hub.
On the other hand, US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that despite new military skirmishes around the Strait of Hormuz, the ceasefire with Iran remains in effect. Speaking to the media near the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, Trump remarked, “If there were no ceasefire, you would know immediately. You would see a big flash coming from Iran.”
Additionally, Trump mentioned that the proposal from the US to end the conflict with Iran is much more comprehensive than a one-page offer. This statement comes as Tehran reviews messages received from Washington through Pakistani intermediaries.
When asked if Iran had responded to the alleged one-page proposal, Trump clarified, “This is not just a one-page offer. It includes stipulations that they will not possess nuclear weapons. They will provide us with nuclear dust and many other things we desire.”
