New Delhi, March 31: Iran has launched an attack on a Kuwaiti oil tanker, as confirmed by local authorities in Kuwait. The Dubai Media Office reported that there were no casualties or damage to property from the incident. Following the attack on the oil-laden tanker in Dubai waters, there were no reports of leaks or injuries.
This incident comes after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran, stating that if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened, he would target its oil facilities. The timing of the attack on the Kuwaiti tanker coincides with Trump’s warning.
According to U.S. media reports, White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt stated that the U.S. military will always adhere to the law. Meanwhile, experts have cautioned that attacking civilian infrastructure could constitute a war crime.
Dubai officials confirmed that response teams successfully managed the incident involving the Kuwaiti oil tanker, ensuring there were no leaks or injuries reported.
Earlier, Kuwait’s state news agency KUNA reported that the Iranian military had attacked the large crude carrier Al-Salmi, which was anchored near Dubai. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation had issued a warning regarding the potential for an oil leak.
The UK Maritime Authority (UKMTO) indicated that the vessel was attacked 31 nautical miles northwest of Dubai. The assault resulted in a fire on the ship, which was later extinguished by Dubai authorities. Officials stated that the fire has since been brought under control.
On another front, China has called for an immediate halt to the ongoing attacks against Iran by the U.S. and Israel. The Chinese Foreign Ministry urged all parties to cease military actions and maintain peace.
Additionally, China expressed regret over the damage to nuclear facilities and 133 historical sites. During a press briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized that the world’s cultural heritage is a priceless asset for all humanity. He condemned the attacks on Iran’s cultural landmarks and nuclear facilities, labeling such actions as extremely dangerous.
