Lucknow, March 20: The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is set to kick off on March 28. In preparation, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) played a high-scoring practice match against the UP T20 League team Kashi Rudras at the Sports Galaxy Cricket Academy on Thursday.
Captain Rishabh Pant took on the role of batsman for both the Super Giants and the opposing team, ‘KR Eleven.’ Batting first, the Super Giants posted an impressive score, thanks to aggressive innings from Pant, Arshin Kulkarni, and Shahbaz Ahmed.
Kashi Rudras’ bowling attack featured LSG’s pace bowlers Mohammad Shami, Avesh Khan, and Mohsin Khan. This trio tested LSG’s batsmen with a disciplined mix of swing and fast bouncers.
In the second half of the warm-up match, Kashi Rudras showcased their own powerful batting. Pant, along with his LSG teammates Mukul Chaudhary, Shubham, and Abhishek, frequently sent the ball over the boundary, entertaining the local crowd.
On the bowling front for LSG, young pacer Mayank Yadav and wrist-spinner Digvijay Rathi stood out, supported by economical spells from Shahbaz and Arjun Tendulkar.
A large number of young cricketers from the local academy attended the match. Afterward, several LSG players interacted with fans, signing autographs and participating in photo sessions. Earlier, the franchise held a pre-season camp at the ‘Coaching Beyond’ academy grounds in Chennai.
LSG also confirmed that their entire squad of domestic players has gathered in Lucknow. The team is expected to be fully prepared by this weekend.
In IPL 2026, LSG will begin their campaign on April 1, facing the Delhi Capitals at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
