Kolkata, June 21: The main event for International Yoga Day in Kolkata has concluded successfully. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating this significant day. He expressed gratitude to the citizens of Kolkata for their role in organizing the event.

PM Modi shared photos from the event on the social media platform ‘X’. In his post, he wrote, “A magnificent event for Yoga Day was held this morning at Red Road in Kolkata, where people from all walks of life participated, conveying a vital message about the importance of yoga in everyone’s life. This year’s theme was ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ emphasizing the significance of yoga for fitness and health at every age.”

In another post, he stated, “I want to thank my brothers and sisters in Kolkata for being such wonderful hosts for this year’s Yoga Day event. It is an honor to celebrate in this vibrant city. Prior to Yoga Day, a cleanliness campaign was conducted throughout the city, which was very inspiring. The people of Kolkata have sent a strong message about fulfilling their civic duties.”

Earlier, PM Modi addressed the gathering, saying, “June 21 is the longest day of the year in some parts of the world. Thanks to International Yoga Day, this date has also become a day of the world’s largest collective celebration. Amazing images of yoga are coming in from various parts of the globe. From the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean, from Northeast India to Bengal in the east and Saurashtra in the west, the entire country is filled with the energy of yoga.”

He emphasized that the entire country and the world appear interconnected, showcasing the power of yoga. “Yoga unites everyone; it brings people together. On this occasion, I extend my warm wishes for International Yoga Day to the entire world and the human community,” he added.
