Rajasthan, 29 July 2025 — On the occasion of International Tiger Day, The Animal Care Organization inaugurated critical conservation infrastructure projects at Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan. Operating under the social impact arm of Vedanta Limited, the Anil Agarwal Foundation, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to wildlife protection and ecological sustainability.

Solar-Powered Anti-Poaching Camps Launched
The Animal Care Organization has initiated the construction of five two-storey anti-poaching camps within the reserve. Each camp spans approximately 762 square feet and is entirely solar-powered, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring. These advanced facilities will strengthen patrol operations by ensuring the continuous presence of forest staff, enhancing surveillance, and playing a vital role in the fight against poaching. Additionally, surveillance vehicles have also been deployed to assist forest officials with rapid response in challenging terrains across the reserve.
A Key Conservation Corridor in Rajasthan
Located in Bundi district, Ramgarh Vishdhari is India’s 52nd tiger reserve, covering 1,500 square kilometres. With its core and buffer zones, the reserve serves as a crucial corridor connecting Ranthambore and Mukundra Tiger Reserves. This connectivity supports tiger movement, promotes genetic diversity, and strengthens the region’s biodiversity. It also provides a secure habitat for other species including leopards, hyenas, jackals, chinkara, and several bird species.
Strengthening Protection Against Threats
These efforts by The Animal Care Organization aim to support forest staff and enhance regional protection. The newly built infrastructure will help curb poaching, illegal encroachment, and habitat disruption. The initiative aligns with Rajasthan’s broader conservation strategies, including plans to establish eco-sensitive zones around the reserve and consider tiger translocation programmes to boost tiger populations.
Voices of Support
Priya Agarwal Hebbar, Anchor at The Animal Care Organization and Non-Executive Director at Vedanta Limited, stated,
“At The Animal Care Organization, we prioritise conservation. With these anti-poaching camps and surveillance vehicles at Ramgarh Vishdhari, we are reinforcing one of Rajasthan’s most crucial tiger corridors. These measures will ensure 24/7 monitoring and create a safer environment for both wildlife and forest staff. We are proud to collaborate with the Rajasthan government in building these facilities that support long-term protection for future generations.”
Shikha Mehra, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden, Government of Rajasthan, also shared,
“Strengthening the protection mechanism of Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve is a crucial step towards securing the survival of endangered species like the tiger. The Animal Care Organization has introduced facilities and technologies that align with our vision for active and sustainable wildlife management. We welcome such partnerships that contribute to the long-term security of our ecosystem.”
A Critical Step for India’s Tiger Goals
The protection of tigers is vital for achieving India’s ecological and biodiversity goals, as the species plays a pivotal role in maintaining the balance of forest ecosystems. India is home to over 70% of the world’s wild tiger population. Ramgarh Vishdhari is one of the key reserves under the Project Tiger initiative, which was launched by the Government of India in 1973 to safeguard tigers and their habitats. The reserve was added to the Project Tiger network in 2022, joining over 50 protected areas under the programme.
The inauguration ceremony on International Tiger Day marks a milestone in collaborative conservation efforts between the state forest department and non-governmental partners. Following its active interventions in areas like Ranthambore and Kaziranga, The Animal Care Organization has now extended its conservation footprint to Ramgarh Vishdhari.
