Malda, March 21: The Eastern Railway’s Malda division launched a special intensive ticket checking campaign on the Barharwa-Sahibganj-Pirpainti rail line to ensure compliance with railway regulations, enhance passenger safety, and protect revenue. This initiative targeted a significant number of passengers traveling without tickets or irregularly.
Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta, the campaign was conducted on March 21. During this operation, extensive ticket checks were carried out on several trains operating on this line, including the 13409 Malda Town-Kiul Intercity Express, 53416 Jamalpur-Sahibganj Passenger, 13032 Jayanagar-Hawrah Express, 53415 Sahibganj-Jamalpur Passenger, 13236 Danapur-Sahibganj Intercity Express, and 13235 Sahibganj-Danapur Intercity Express.
The campaign was successfully led by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kartik Singh, with the coordinated efforts of ticket checking staff, commercial inspectors, and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. The primary aim was to enforce strict adherence to ticketing rules and curb ticketless travel.
A total of 330 cases of irregular travel were detected during the checks, resulting in a fine collection of ₹106,580. Railway officials stated that such campaigns not only safeguard revenue but also raise awareness among passengers regarding compliance with rules. During the operation, passengers were encouraged to purchase tickets digitally. They were advised to download the ‘Rail One App’ for both reserved and unreserved ticketing, promoting a paperless and transparent travel experience.
Additionally, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kartik Singh inspected passenger facilities between Karanpurato and Pirpainti stations to assess and improve available amenities. The railway administration urged passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid any inconvenience or penalties.
