An Indigo flight returning from Kuwait to Delhi was forced to make an emergency landing in Ahmedabad on Friday following a bomb threat. All passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft and moved to a secure area at the airport. There were no reports of injuries or medical emergencies during the evacuation process.
The flight carried 180 passengers and a total of 186 people on board. The threat was discovered on a handwritten note found on a tissue paper inside the aircraft. The note mentioned hijacking and a bomb, prompting immediate action by the flight crew. Following standard aviation safety protocols, the pilot alerted Air Traffic Control and decided to divert the plane to the nearest airport, Ahmedabad.
The flight landed safely at Ahmedabad Airport, where security agencies had already been put on alert prior to its arrival.
Inspector N.D. Nakum of the Airport Police Station stated that security forces responded swiftly after receiving the threat. “All relevant security agencies were alerted immediately. The bomb disposal squad conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and found no suspicious or objectionable items. The inspection process is now complete,” he added.
The bomb disposal team, CISF personnel, dog squads, and airport security teams conducted a detailed inspection of the aircraft and passengers’ luggage. Personal security checks were also carried out following standard operating procedures.
During the operation, a heavy police presence was maintained across the airport. Airport sources confirmed that flight operations continued with minor and temporary adjustments while security checks were underway.
Authorities are currently investigating the handwritten note to determine how it was placed onboard. Appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
