Indian Worker Killed in Drone Attacks in Moscow, Three Injured

Moscow, May 17: A tragic incident occurred in the Russian capital on Sunday when a drone attack resulted in the death of an Indian worker, with three others sustaining injuries. The Indian Embassy in Russia confirmed the event and stated that the injured workers are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

Embassy officials arrived at the scene shortly after the attacks and met with the hospitalized Indian nationals to check on their well-being. The Indian mission expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased and mentioned that they are in contact with local authorities and the relevant company to provide all necessary assistance to those affected.

According to a statement from the embassy, the drone attacks in the Moscow region led to the death of one Indian worker and injured three others. Officials have met with the injured and are providing all possible support.

Russian authorities reported that at least three people died and over twelve were injured during the overnight attacks. Moscow’s Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, noted that the city’s oil refinery remained secure during the assaults, although some residential buildings sustained damage.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that more than 500 Ukrainian drones were shot down across the country, including in the Moscow region, within the last 24 hours.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the attacks on the Moscow region as a response to Russia’s military actions. He stated that Ukraine is retaliating against the assaults on its cities and urged Russia to end the war.

In a social media post, he emphasized that Ukraine’s actions are justified in response to Russia’s prolonged conflict and attacks on their cities. He warned that Ukrainian long-range drones have now reached the Moscow region, clearly stating to the Russians that it is time to end the war.
