
New Delhi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : Indian women wrestlers are poised to make a significant impact at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, with a strong focus on winning gold medals. Wrestler Antim Panghal expressed her excitement, stating that her preparation is going well and she is eager to compete against athletes from other countries. “My goal is to bring home a gold medal for India,” she affirmed.
Veteran wrestler Nisha Dahiya highlighted the strength of wrestling in India, noting the country’s success in events from the Olympics to the Commonwealth Games. She is optimistic about the team’s chances, believing they will secure medals in their respective weight categories. Dahiya emphasized the blend of experience and youth within the team, which is eager to leave a mark at the Asian Games.
Young wrestler Deepanshi Phogat is set to participate in her first Asian Games. She expressed confidence in her preparations and is determined to deliver her best performance. Phogat thanked the Wrestling Federation of India for organizing training camps and securing foreign coaches to enhance their skills.
Manisha Bhanwala, another competitor, stated that her goal is also to win a gold medal. She praised the strength of the current Indian wrestling team, noting that all members are strong contenders for medals. Bhanwala commended Japanese coach Akashi for significantly improving the wrestlers’ fitness and training methods.
First-time coach Bharti Baghel expressed confidence in the team, stating that all wrestlers are fully prepared to achieve success. “We are ready for the Asian Games and aim to bring back all six medals,” she said, emphasizing the athletes’ dedication and focus on winning gold.
