Nagoya, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya is currently in Nagoya, Japan, supporting the Indian contingent at the Asian Games 2026. He has expressed admiration for Japan’s exceptional hospitality and rich culture.
On Saturday, Mandaviya met with Captain Hussain Al-Musallam, the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and President of World Aquatics. He shared details of the meeting on his X account, noting, “In Nagoya, during the 20th Asian Games, I had a meeting with Captain Hussain Al-Musallam.”
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between India’s national sports federations and their respective Asian federations. Mandaviya emphasized the importance of developing aquatic sports in India, particularly by enhancing grassroots participation and nurturing young talent.
He also highlighted OCA’s recognition of India’s readiness to host various Asian-level championships. This reflects a shared commitment to promote sports collaboration and development across the continent.
In another post, Mandaviya praised Japan’s warm hospitality and vibrant culture. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games and participate in Japan’s traditional celebration, Kagami Biraki.
“It was wonderful to reconnect with friends from the Asian and global sports community. It is encouraging to see everyone excited about India’s sports progress and future,” he wrote.
The official opening ceremony for the Asian Games 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, taking place at Paloma Mizuho Stadium from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM IST.
