Indian Sports Minister Meets Diaspora in Japan Ahead of Asian Games 2026

Nagoya, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Mansukh Mandaviya, the Indian Sports Minister, is currently in Nagoya, Japan, supporting the Indian delegation at the 2026 Asian Games. During his visit, he engaged with the Indian diaspora, sharing moments on social media. He expressed his joy in connecting with fellow Indians, stating, “It feels like home in the heart of Japan. It’s always great to meet fellow Indians. I had wonderful conversations with our diaspora, celebrating our shared roots and love for our homeland.”

Mandaviya received a warm welcome in Japan, clearly impressed by the hospitality. He shared his gratitude on social media, saying, “I had the opportunity to attend the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya and participate in Japan’s traditional celebration, Kagami Biraki. I am thankful for such a warm welcome and splendid hospitality.”

The minister also appreciated reconnecting with friends from the Asian and global sports community, noting the excitement surrounding India’s sporting progress and future.

On Saturday, he held a meeting with Captain Hussain Al-Musallam, the Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and President of World Aquatics. Sharing images from the meeting, Mandaviya highlighted discussions aimed at strengthening cooperation between India’s national sports federations and their respective Asian federations. They focused on ways to further develop aquatic sports in India, emphasizing grassroots participation and nurturing young talent.

Mandaviya also noted that the OCA welcomed India’s preparations to host various Asian-level championships, reflecting a shared commitment to enhancing sports collaboration and development across the continent.
