
Amritsar, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian men’s hockey team has reaffirmed its dominance at the Asian Games by clinching the gold medal for the second consecutive time. After defeating Malaysia, the victorious team returned to Amritsar, where they received a warm welcome at the airport.
Captain Harmanpreet Singh expressed his pride, stating, “It is a matter of great pride. As a captain and player, this is a very special moment for me as we have won two titles in a row. It was a collective effort by the entire team, and we performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament. I am very happy.”
Manmeet Singh, brother of key player Hardik Singh, shared his excitement, saying, “It feels amazing. There is joy everywhere. It is a matter of pride that we are here to receive them. We planned to come just yesterday, as this is a significant occasion. Bringing home two medals for India—both gold—is truly delightful.”
Dilpreet Singh’s mother also expressed her joy, stating, “The children performed excellently at the Asian Games and brought home the gold medal. We are very happy and proud. There is immense joy in our family. This is happiness that will never fade.”
The Indian team showcased remarkable skill throughout the Asian Games 2026, securing impressive victories against all opponents. In a thrilling semifinal, they edged out Pakistan 4-3 and then triumphed over Malaysia with a score of 5-1 in the finals. This championship win also guarantees the Indian hockey team’s entry into the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
