New Delhi, August 15: In a significant development for India’s foreign policy, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on Saturday that Foreign Secretary (CPV & OIA) Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan will embark on an official visit to Egypt, Palestine, and Lebanon from August 16 to 21. This will mark her first visit to these three countries since assuming her current role.
According to the MEA, during her visit, Ranganathan will meet with her counterparts and various stakeholders. The discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations between India and these nations, as well as addressing regional developments and mutual interests.
The ministry emphasized that this visit presents a vital opportunity to enhance India’s friendly relations with the countries in the region. Amid changing geopolitical dynamics in West Asia, India has consistently prioritized dialogue and cooperation with key regional players.
A major topic of discussion during the visit will be BRICS cooperation between India and Egypt. Ranganathan will deliver the keynote address at an inaugural session of an event titled “India-Egypt in BRICS: Towards a Stronger Voice for the Global South.”
The program will explore ways to strengthen the partnership between India and Egypt within the BRICS framework and effectively amplify the voice of the Global South. India and Egypt have long-standing political, economic, and strategic ties, collaborating on various multilateral platforms.
The MEA stated that this visit will deepen India’s regional engagement. It is expected that discussions will not only cover issues of mutual interest but also exchange views on the regional situation.
According to the ministry, this trip could prove crucial in advancing India’s relations with these three countries and revitalizing existing cooperation.
