New Delhi, March 7: The 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue 2026 is currently underway in India’s capital, New Delhi. Leaders from various countries are arriving in India for this significant event. Shombi Sharp, the Deputy Executive Secretary for Partnerships and Coordination at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), has also come to participate in the dialogue. Indian Foreign Secretary (West) C.B. George met with Sharp during the event.
The Ministry of External Affairs shared on the social media platform X, “Secretary (West) C.B. George met with Shombi Sharp on March 6, 2026, during the Raisina Dialogue 2026.”
The Ministry added, “Sharp informed the Secretary (West) about UNESCAP’s upcoming activities in the region. He also shared insights on recent political developments in the area.”
Earlier, C.B. George had a meeting with Alexander Fasel, the Foreign Minister of Switzerland. This discussion focused on strengthening mutual cooperation across various sectors. During their meeting, George and Fasel also exchanged views on regional and global developments.
After the meeting, Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, “Foreign Secretary C.B. George met with Switzerland’s State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Alexander Fasel today during the 11th Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi. They discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors and exchanged views on regional and global developments.”
The implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) is expected to enhance technical cooperation, attract quality investments, and create job opportunities. According to the Ministry, business ties between India and Switzerland have existed since the early 19th century, with the Volkart Trading Company establishing offices in Basel and Mumbai in 1851.
The 11th edition of the Raisina Dialogue is taking place from March 5 to 7 in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the dialogue on March 5, with Finland’s President Alexander Stubb attending as the chief guest and delivering a keynote address.
