New Delhi, March 21: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the schedule for the Indian cricket team’s tour of Ireland. The team will visit Ireland for two T20 matches in June 2026.
According to the schedule issued by BCCI, India will play the first and second T20 matches on June 26 and June 28, respectively. Both matches are set to take place in Belfast.
This will mark the Indian cricket team’s fourth tour of Ireland in recent years, having previously visited in 2018, 2022, and 2023. Notably, the team will play in Belfast for the first time since 2007.
The Ireland cricket team and its fans eagerly anticipate the arrival of the Indian team. There is always a buzz among fans when India plays there. BCCI has consistently sent young players on these tours. It remains to be seen whether the team led by Suryakumar Yadav, who recently won the World Cup, will travel to Ireland or if another captain will lead a youthful squad.
India has maintained a perfect record against Ireland in T20 matches, having won all eight encounters between the two teams.
Ireland has also announced its schedule for 2026. Before facing India, they will participate in a triangular T20 series against West Indies and Pakistan from May 28 to June 4. Additionally, Ireland is set to play a five-match ODI series against Afghanistan from August 5 to 14.
Ireland’s decision to play the ODI series against Afghanistan, despite being vocal about women’s rights and the treatment of women in Afghan cricket, has raised eyebrows.
BCCI’s Chief Executive, Sarah Kean, stated, “This decision was not made for financial reasons or legal obligations, but in the broader interest of the organization.”
