
Poonch, April 24: The Indian Army has bid a heartfelt farewell to the courageous Tahir Fazal, a key figure in the 2003 ‘Operation Sarpa Vinash.’ Fazal played a significant role in anti-terrorism efforts in the Hill Kaka and Surankote areas. On Friday, the Army expressed its deep condolences to his grieving family.
The Indian Army’s ‘White Knight Corps’ shared a tribute on the social media platform X, stating, “A final farewell to a brave heart. With deep sorrow and immense gratitude, the Indian Army honored Tahir Fazal with a heartfelt goodbye.”
The post further emphasized, “He was a valiant son who stood shoulder to shoulder with our soldiers during ‘Operation Sarpa Vinash’ in 2003. He played a crucial role in anti-terrorism efforts in the Hill Kaka and Surankote regions and was instrumental in establishing the first ‘Village Defense Committee’ (VDC) in the area.”
The ‘White Knight Corps’ added, “His courageous spirit, unwavering bravery, and deep connection with the Indian Army are testaments to his remarkable character. His indomitable valor will always be etched in our hearts. The Indian Army stands firmly with the bereaved family during this time of sorrow.”
According to officials, Tahir Fazal, a resident of Murrah village in the Surankote area of Poonch district, passed away at the age of 62 on April 22 in Uttarakhand. His mortal remains were transported by road to his ancestral village, where a large number of people gathered to pay their respects.
Army personnel assisted in conducting the funeral with honor and dignity. Soldiers carried the body with great respect, symbolizing unity and shared humanity in support of the national cause.
