India to Emerge as a New Power at BRICS Summit, Says Maulana Yasub Abbas

Lucknow, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Maulana Yasub Abbas, the General Secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, expressed confidence that the upcoming BRICS summit in New Delhi will enable India to unite various nations and emerge as a significant global power.

During an interview in Lucknow, Abbas highlighted the importance of the meeting between Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that this interaction would send a clear message that the BRICS summit aims to diminish the dominance of the United States and Israel. He emphasized the need for stronger relations between India and Iran, noting that the people of Iran hold great affection for Indians.

Abbas, who has traveled to Iran since childhood, shared that he has never encountered any difficulties there. He expressed pride in discussing the strong ties between India and Iran, mentioning his frequent visits to various Iranian cities, including Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Nishapur, and Kermanshah. He remarked on the warmth and hospitality extended by Iranians towards Indians.

On a different note, Abbas commented on the recent demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur, which he lamented as a significant loss. This mosque, dating back to the 18th century, contained a well, a common feature in older mosques before modern water facilities were available. He criticized Salman Khurshid’s comments regarding the incident, recalling their recent flight together to Iran. Abbas pointed out that if someone does not respect religious practices, they are unlikely to honor places of worship.

He asserted that mosques are sacred spaces, regardless of legal documentation, and criticized the political exploitation of religious sites. He urged Congress and Rahul Gandhi to engage openly on this issue, stressing that politics should not interfere with places of worship.

Meanwhile, Shia cleric Agha Syed Hasan Mousavi from Kashmir referred to President Pajeshkian’s visit, noting that it included participation from scholars, intellectuals, and business leaders from all religions in India. They collectively condemned the injustices and brutality faced by Iran from the U.S. and expressed solidarity with the nation. He emphasized that the longstanding relationship between India and Iran should continue to strengthen.
