New Delhi, May 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared that India is one of the most attractive destinations globally for investment, innovation, and manufacturing. He invited European companies to deepen their engagement with India as a reliable and trustworthy economic partner.
Modi addressed the European Round Table (ERT) in Gothenburg, highlighting the growing strategic synergy between India and Europe. He emphasized the importance of reliable partnerships in an increasingly complex and uncertain global environment.
The Prime Minister welcomed the progress in India-EU relations, which includes the successful conclusion of negotiations for the historic India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He described this agreement as a transformative economic partnership that will create new opportunities in trade, technology, manufacturing, services, and robust supply chains.
He pointed out India’s rapid economic progress, next-generation economic reforms, efforts focused on ease of doing business, extensive digital public infrastructure, a vibrant manufacturing ecosystem, and a rapidly transforming infrastructure sector. Modi reiterated India’s vision of “Design in India, Manufacture in India, and Export from India,” urging European companies to strengthen their ties with India as a reliable economic partner.
The Prime Minister also stressed the need for India and Europe to develop resilient and diversified supply chains. He mentioned India’s ambitious infrastructure and energy transition plans, which involve significant investments in transport, logistics, renewable energy, green hydrogen, and nuclear energy.
Furthermore, Modi highlighted the importance of talent mobility, education, and skill partnerships between India and Europe. He described India’s young and skilled workforce as a key driver of future global economic growth and emphasized the need to deepen people-to-people connections and innovation partnerships.
