New Delhi, March 17: India has strongly condemned the recent airstrike by Pakistan on a hospital and rehabilitation center in Kabul. The attack reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 400 civilians, with at least 250 others injured. India stated that Islamabad is attempting to disguise this massacre as a military operation.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs described the attack as a “cowardly and inhumane act” that claimed numerous innocent lives in a location that cannot be justified as a military target.
India further asserted that Pakistan’s “disgraceful act of aggression” is an open assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and poses a direct threat to peace and stability in the region.
The Ministry emphasized that this incident reflects Pakistan’s reckless behavior and its repeated attempts to project its internal failures outward through escalating violence beyond its borders.
What makes this attack even more reprehensible, according to the Ministry, is that it occurred during Ramadan, a holy month for Muslims worldwide, which is a time for “peace, reflection, and compassion.”
The statement continued, “No religion, law, or morality can justify the deliberate targeting of a hospital and its patients.”
India has urged the international community to hold those responsible for this “criminal act” accountable and to ensure that Pakistan’s deliberate targeting of Afghan civilians ceases immediately.
Expressing condolences, the Ministry stated, “India extends its heartfelt sympathy to the grieving families, wishes for the swift recovery of the injured, and stands with the people of Afghanistan during this tragic time. We reaffirm our unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
It is reported that Taliban officials stated the Pakistani airstrike on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital in Kabul resulted in over 400 fatalities and at least 250 injuries. This incident may be one of the most horrific events in the Afghan capital.
According to Taliban government officials, the attack targeted the 2,000-bed Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital around 9 PM on Monday night.
Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lamented the international community’s silence regarding Pakistan’s recent assault, calling it a troubling indication of neglecting international responsibilities. They stated, “The military regime in Pakistan ruthlessly attacks civilians while the world merely watches these tragic events unfold.”
