Mumbai, August 5: On the seventh anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress MP Imran Masood expressed his concerns regarding unfulfilled promises made during the process. He highlighted the lack of significant changes in the region’s conditions and questioned the government’s claims of progress.
Masood stated, “The situation in Jammu and Kashmir remains unchanged. How many displaced Kashmiri Pandits have been rehabilitated? What industrial development has occurred? Has terrorism been eradicated? Not a single promise made during the abrogation of Article 370 has been fulfilled. What benefit has come from revoking the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir? If there had been any development, it would make sense, but nothing has happened.”
Commenting on RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s upcoming discussion with Gen Z and Gen Alpha students in Mumbai, Masood remarked, “What will you achieve through dialogue? Your organization has played a significant role in destroying institutions. The RSS is everywhere, and you do not want children to receive proper education. You only want them to learn what you wish to teach.”
Earlier, Masood had sharply reacted to Prime Minister Modi’s remarks at Jantar Mantar, where he referred to protesting students as naïve. Masood criticized the use of pellet guns against children and the mistreatment of female students, calling it a cowardly act.
He emphasized that the youth of the country will not be silenced. “The future of children in India has been jeopardized. Young people are protesting in many states; they are against this government,” he stated.
Regarding the issue of redistricting, Masood warned that it poses a significant threat to the country’s integrity and will lead to injustice against all southern states.
