Hindustan Zinc Marks Menstrual Hygiene Day with Awareness Drive Across Rajasthan Schools

Udaipur, Rajasthan — On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Hindustan Zinc took a significant step in promoting menstrual health awareness among schoolchildren in rural Rajasthan. The company, through its community outreach programs, organized educational sessions in government schools located near its operational units, aiming to break taboos and promote healthy practices around menstruation.

582 Students Reached Through Health Awareness Campaigns

Under the umbrella of Hindustan Zinc’s healthcare initiative and in collaboration with the Mamta Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) program, awareness sessions were conducted across eight government schools in Udaipur’s Zawar, Rajsamand’s Dariba, Chittorgarh’s Chanderiya, and Bhilwara’s Agucha regions. A total of 582 boys and girls participated in these sensitization sessions.

Aligned with this year’s global theme, “Together for a Period-Friendly World,” the company rolled out a series of engaging and educational activities to empower adolescent girls with accurate information and promote hygienic practices.

Interactive Learning with Doctors, Games, and Demonstrations

Each session began with a pre-test to assess students’ existing knowledge, followed by an interactive awareness talk led by a female doctor using a menstrual hygiene management apron. Topics included the biological process of menstruation, understanding the menstrual cycle, and maintaining proper hygiene.

To combat myths and misconceptions, a “Myth vs Fact” segment was introduced using visual aids and card tools to foster active participation. One of the highlights of the initiative was an interactive floor game inspired by the classic snakes and ladders board, redesigned with MHM-themed messages to make learning fun and memorable.

Focus on Anemia and Menstrual Product Awareness

The sessions also touched upon the identification and prevention of anemia—a common concern among adolescent girls. Participants were guided to recognize symptoms such as fatigue and pale skin, supported by anemia awareness charts and nutrition tips.

Moreover, a hands-on demonstration of various menstrual hygiene products was conducted, including sanitary pads, tampons, menstrual cups, and disposable period panties. The objective was to empower girls with informed choices regarding safe and sustainable menstrual health options.

Through this well-rounded initiative, Hindustan Zinc reinforced its commitment to community health and adolescent well-being, ensuring that the conversation around menstruation becomes normal, informed, and stigma-free.
