Hema Malini defends Budget, calls it a boost for India’s economy

New Delhi, February 2: Following the Union Budget announcement by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, political reactions have been intense. While the opposition has criticized the Budget as hollow and weak, Mathura MP Hema Malini has strongly defended it, calling the Budget a true reflection of a developing India and saying it will accelerate the country’s economy.

Responding to the opposition leader in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge’s remarks, Hema Malini said, “This Budget has given the country a new direction and momentum. It aims to boost the economy and envisions India in 2047. Every section of society has been considered, whether women, farmers, or youth.”

She also expressed happiness over actor Dharmendra receiving the posthumous Padma Vibhushan award, stating, “The actor has been rightly honoured.”

On West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s criticism of the Budget, Hema Malini said, “Let her say whatever she feels. Her comments do not affect the reality.”

Earlier, Mallikarjun Kharge had attacked the government Budget, claiming it lacked fresh ideas and failed to address the needs of the poor and middle class. He pointed out that the Budget announcement led to a fall in the stock market and accused the Modi government of failing in all sectors. He questioned how the Budget would reduce inflation or create jobs, calling it merely a development map without clarity on implementation.

Mamata Banerjee described the Budget as “Humpty Dumpty,” alleging that West Bengal was ignored and received no funds.

Present at the event, BJP MP and religious leader Sakshi Maharaj supported the state government’s demand for account reports from madrasas, saying, “There must be some complaints for such a request. No action is taken without reason. I praise the state government for this commendable work. The investigation is underway with ATS, an agency beyond doubt.”
