Heliovara and Patten Reach Mens Doubles Final at French Open for the First Time

Paris, June 5: Harry Heliovara and Henry Patten showcased exceptional performance on Thursday, securing their spot in the men’s doubles final at the French Open. The duo is just one victory away from claiming their first French Open title.

The second-seeded Finnish-British pair defeated the French team of Quentin Halys and Pierre-Hugues Herbert with a score of 6-3, 6-4 on Court Suzanne Lenglen. The match lasted 1 hour and 16 minutes.

Having already established themselves as one of the best doubles teams this season, Heliovara and Patten arrived at the French Open after winning titles in Adelaide, Doha, Dubai, and Madrid. This latest victory brings them closer to their fifth title of 2026 and their first Grand Slam title.

The semifinal began with a tightly contested battle, with both teams appearing evenly matched. The second-seeded duo capitalized on their first opportunity when Herbert committed a double fault, losing his serve. This allowed Heliovara and Patten to seize control early in the first set.

With their powerful serves and excellent net play, the pair maintained their momentum throughout the match. Heliovara clinched the first set with a stunning volley, and they took an early lead in the second set after another service error from Herbert.

Encouraged by the loud support of their home crowd, Halys and Herbert attempted to rally in the final moments of the match, creating some opportunities to extend the contest. However, Heliovara and Patten remained composed under pressure, ensuring their lead was never relinquished. The British player delivered a powerful first serve on match point, and Heliovara sealed the victory with a precise volley at the net.

With this win, the duo has reached their third Grand Slam final in their careers. Having previously won Wimbledon 2024 and the Australian Open 2025, they remain undefeated in major finals.

In the French Open final, Heliovara and Patten will face either the defending champions Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos or Italy’s Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori.
