Heavy Rains Disrupt Life in Jharkhand, Schools Closed in Ranchi and Jamshedpur

Continuous heavy rainfall in Jharkhand has led to school closures in Ranchi and Jamshedpur as flood conditions worsen.

Ranchi, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Continuous heavy rainfall over the past three days has severely affected daily life in Jharkhand, particularly in the capital city of Ranchi and surrounding areas. Flood-like conditions have emerged, prompting local authorities to close schools in both Ranchi and Jamshedpur on Saturday.

The relentless downpour has significantly disrupted life in Jamshedpur and its neighboring regions. Major rivers, including the Swarnrekha and Kharkai, have surpassed warning levels, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. Water from these rivers has begun to inundate several neighborhoods, forcing residents to seek safer locations.

In response to the escalating situation, district administration officials have ordered the closure of all government and private schools as a precautionary measure. Authorities are closely monitoring the conditions and have heightened surveillance in vulnerable areas. Residents in flood-prone zones like Mango, Bagbera, and Shastrinagar have been advised to relocate to safer places. The administration has also urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary outings.

While the intensity of rainfall saw a slight reduction on Saturday, the threat remains as river levels continue to rise. Emergency response teams are on standby to address any potential flooding issues.

The ongoing rains have led to waterlogging on numerous roads, disrupting traffic flow. Authorities have urged residents to disregard rumors and to contact district control rooms or administrative officials in case of emergencies. A high alert remains in effect across the district in light of the flooding and rainfall conditions.
