New Delhi, February 11: An unbalanced lifestyle is increasingly leading to both physical and mental health issues. Incorporating yoga into daily routines can promote overall well-being. Yoga experts recommend practicing Heart Mudra, also known as Apana Vayu Mudra or Mritsanjivani Mudra.
The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga has identified Heart Mudra as highly effective for heart health and emotional resilience. This simple hand gesture directs prana energy toward the heart area, enhancing its strength and vitality while activating heart-related nerves.
Regular practice of Heart Mudra not only fortifies the heart but also alleviates emotional burdens. It helps release suppressed feelings and is particularly beneficial during stressful situations or mental struggles. This mudra stimulates the Anahata Chakra (heart chakra), fostering feelings of peace, love, and balance.
Additionally, Heart Mudra improves blood circulation, calms the nervous system, and may help prevent heart-related issues. It can be easily practiced at home.
Experts recommend sitting in a comfortable position, such as Sukhasana or Padmasana, with a straight spine. Place both hands on your knees, palms facing up. Bend the index finger to touch the base of the thumb. Then, touch the tips of the middle and ring fingers to the thumb’s tip while keeping the little finger straight and relaxed. Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and focus on the heart area. Practicing this mudra for 10 to 30 minutes daily is advised.
This simple yet beneficial practice is suitable for people of all ages. However, those with serious heart conditions should consult a yoga expert before starting.
