Mumbai, March 12: New developments have emerged in the estate case of the late businessman Sanjay Kapoor. A hearing took place on Thursday at the Patiala House Court regarding the defamation lawsuit filed by Sanjay Kapoor’s third wife, Priya Sachdeva, against her sister-in-law, Mandira Kapoor.
The court has granted Priya Sachdeva time to argue her case in response to Mandira Kapoor’s statements, with the next hearing scheduled for March 30.
Priya Sachdeva Kapoor has accused Mandira Kapoor of making false allegations against her through podcasts, social media, and interviews. She claims that Mandira’s actions aim to damage her reputation. Earlier, on January 21, Priya recorded her statement in a closed session before the additional chief judicial magistrate at Patiala House Court.
In her complaint, Priya Sachdeva Kapoor stated that the alleged defamatory content included personal attacks and serious accusations, despite the court’s decision still pending. She asserted that these statements fall under the scope of criminal defamation and that there is an attempt to defame and harass her through public discourse rather than judicial processes.
It is noteworthy that Mandira Kapoor had made several attacks on Priya Sachdeva Kapoor during a podcast interview. She mentioned that her mother and family were not in favor of Priya’s marriage to Sanjay. Mandira expressed regret for not supporting Karisma Kapoor, who was in a relationship with Sanjay and had children with him.
Mandira stated, “I believe it is very wrong for another woman to disregard a woman who has recently become a mother. Creating rifts within a family is also very wrong. You cannot break someone’s marriage, and Karisma did not deserve this treatment. She worked hard to save her marriage, but what happened to her was not right.”
