Haryanas Chief Secretary Ensures No Shortage of Fuel Amid Review Meeting

Chandigarh, April 7: Haryana’s Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to review the status of LPG cylinders, particularly the distribution of 5 kg free trade LPG cylinders and the piped natural gas (PNG) network in the state.

Rastogi instructed all district commissioners to ensure the distribution of LPG cylinders, especially in rural areas. He emphasized the need for monitoring the free trade LPG cylinders and PNG connectivity, directing that new LPG connections be issued in a timely and transparent manner.

The Chief Secretary stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring that no household in Haryana faces a shortage of cooking fuel, maintaining that the distribution system remains vigilant and accountable.

J. Ganesan, the Commissioner and Secretary of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, reported that domestic LPG cylinders are fully available in the state, with no disruptions in the supply chain. He stated, “There is no shortage of domestic LPG in Haryana, and the situation is similar to this time last year.”

Since March 28, public sector oil marketing companies have fully resumed the supply of commercial LPG to hotels, restaurants, dhabas, and industries.

During the meeting, it was noted that in March, oil marketing companies collectively supplied 5.439 million domestic LPG cylinders. Special attention was given to the distribution of 5 kg free trade LPG cylinders, which serve as a convenient and affordable option for migrant workers, small families, street vendors, and small restaurants. From April 1 to April 5, the three oil marketing companies sold a total of 4,730 free trade LPG cylinders.

To promote energy access and inclusion, 2,565 new LPG connections have been issued since March 15. This includes 1,090 new connections for 5 kg cylinders, 1,462 for domestic 19 kg cylinders, and 13 for commercial 47.5 kg cylinders.
