
Greater Noida, April 8: An encounter occurred on Tuesday between the Rabupura police and a wanted cattle smuggler in the Rabupura area of Gautam Buddh Nagar. During the police’s response, the fugitive, who had a bounty of ₹25,000 on his head, was injured and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
The police also seized illegal weapons and a stolen motorcycle from the suspect. Reports indicate that on April 7, 2026, the Rabupura police were checking suspicious individuals and vehicles at a cargo checkpoint. At that moment, a motorcyclist appeared, prompting the police to signal him to stop.
However, the individual did not comply and attempted to flee by turning his bike. Sensing something amiss, the police team pursued him. When cornered, the suspect opened fire on the police. In the ensuing exchange, the suspect was shot and injured. The injured criminal has been identified as Sanju, son of Rukka alias Lukka, a 32-year-old resident of Sheikhpur, Chandhahat police station, Palwal district, Haryana.
According to the police, they recovered an illegal .315 bore pistol, a spent cartridge (stuck in the barrel), a live cartridge, and a stolen motorcycle without a number plate from the suspect. He was immediately sent to a nearby hospital for first aid.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Sanju was wanted in several serious cases registered at Rabupura police station and had a bounty of ₹25,000 on him. He faces charges under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act and the Arms Act, among others.
The suspect has a lengthy criminal history, with multiple cases of cattle smuggling, animal cruelty, and illegal possession of firearms registered against him in various police stations in Gautam Buddh Nagar and Haryana. According to police records, three cases against him were filed in 2026 at Rabupura police station, while serious charges were also registered in 2025 and 2024 in Palwal and Faridabad districts of Haryana.
