New Delhi, August 1: The performance of Indian boxers at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 continues to impress. All ten Indian boxers have secured their spots in the finals after winning their semifinal matches. Among them, seven boxers hail from Haryana, ensuring at least silver medals for the state on Saturday. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini congratulated the athletes for their outstanding achievements.
In his message, Chief Minister Saini stated, “We wish for all of you to give your best and elevate the country’s medal tally even higher. Haryana’s athletes have consistently enhanced the nation’s prestige on international platforms.”
In the men’s category, Haryana’s boxers Sachin Siwach (60 kg), Ankush Panghal (80 kg), and Narendra Berwal (90+ kg) will compete in the finals. Narendra showcased an exceptional performance in the semifinals, decisively defeating Trinidad and Tobago’s Nigel Paul with a 5-0 score. Meanwhile, Ankush secured his place in the finals by overcoming Canada’s Joshua Ofori, also with a 5-0 victory. Sachin triumphed over Harris-Allen from Wales with a similar score in his semifinal match.
On the women’s side, Haryana’s Sakshi Chaudhary (51 kg), Preeti Panwar (54 kg), Jasmin Lamboria (57 kg), and Priya Ghanghas (60 kg) have all made it to the finals. Sakshi dominated the 51 kg category, defeating Canada’s Amber-Jane Wall with a unanimous 5-0 decision. Priya earned her final spot by defeating England’s L. Kings-Whitley in the 60 kg category, also with a 5-0 score. Jasmin advanced to the finals by winning against Lesotho’s Rapelang Maselela through a referee stops contest in the semifinals.
All ten Indian boxers are set to enter the ring on Saturday with the aim of delivering a ‘golden punch’ for the country. So far, India has claimed a total of 23 medals, including five golds, at the Commonwealth Games 2026, currently ranking 10th in the medal tally.
