Gujarat Titans Triumph Over Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2026 Match

Ahmedabad, April 18: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) showcased an impressive performance, defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by five wickets. The match took place at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, where GT successfully chased down KKR’s target of 181 runs in just 19.4 overs, marking KKR’s fifth loss of the season.

Gujarat Titans started their innings strongly, with Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill forming a solid opening partnership of 57 runs. Sudharsan scored 22 runs off 16 balls before being dismissed by Sunil Narine. Following his departure, Jos Buttler and Gill added 38 runs for the second wicket in just 24 balls. Buttler contributed 25 runs, hitting two fours and two sixes before getting out.

Captain Shubman Gill continued to anchor the innings, completing his half-century with a remarkable score of 86 runs off 50 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. Washington Sundar managed only 13 runs, while Glenn Phillips scored 19 runs off 16 balls. Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia remained not out at three and seven runs, respectively. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy was the standout bowler, taking two wickets for 34 runs in four overs, while Vaibhav Arora and Ramandeep Singh claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, KKR won the toss and opted to bat first, but their innings faltered as they were bowled out for 180 runs. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed without scoring, and Ankurish Raghuwanshi followed soon after, managing only eight runs. Tim Seifert also struggled, scoring 19 runs off 14 balls before being caught by Glenn Phillips off Kagiso Rabada’s bowling.

However, Cameron Green steadied the innings with a brilliant knock, scoring his first half-century of the season with 79 runs off 55 balls, including seven fours and four sixes. Unfortunately, he lacked support from the other batsmen. Rovman Powell scored 27 runs off 20 balls but could not capitalize on his start. Anukul Roy and Rinku Singh contributed nine and one run, respectively, while Ramandeep Singh added 17 runs. For Gujarat Titans, Kagiso Rabada was exceptional, taking three wickets for just 29 runs, while Mohammad Siraj and Ashok Sharma claimed two wickets each.
