Amreli, August 15: On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day celebrations, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited an exhibition in Amreli district showcasing the stories of approximately 75 freedom fighters. The exhibition highlights events from the freedom movement, including the ‘Arzi Hukumat’ and the struggle against Portuguese rule.
Organized by Deepak High School at the Samarth Vyayam Mandir, the exhibition features photographs and information that illustrate the lives, contributions, and sacrifices of these freedom fighters.
Notable figures included in the exhibition range from Gujarat’s first Chief Minister, Dr. Jivraj Mehta, to Umangray Chhatbar, emphasizing their roles in the region’s history.
Patel inaugurated the exhibition by lighting a traditional lamp and paid tribute to the freedom fighters while observing the displays. The aim of the exhibition is to present the struggles and service of these heroes to the younger generation.
During his visit, the Chief Minister congratulated the management, trustees, and organizers of Deepak High School for this initiative and praised their efforts to document the contributions of Amreli’s freedom fighters.
This exhibition was one of the events Patel attended ahead of the state-level Independence Day celebrations. Earlier, he participated in a tree-planting program at the Shelter House on Savarkundla Road.
After the tree-planting event, Patel noticed local dignitaries standing outside, stopped his car, and engaged in light conversation with them before continuing on his way.
The exhibition was attended by Agriculture Minister and Amreli district in-charge Jitu Vaghani, MLA Mahesh Kasawala, State Ministers for Energy and Law Kaushik Vekaria, and other dignitaries.
