New Delhi, July 28: The Cockroach People’s Party (CJP) has announced that no protesters will face legal action. The party claims that government representatives have reiterated their commitment to withdraw cases against protesters, release those in custody, and issue notifications to ensure the safety of demonstrators in central and BJP/NDA-ruled states.
This information was shared following a late-night meeting with government representatives on Monday. According to the party, the government assured that other states would also issue formal notifications to protect protesters.
This statement comes just hours after the CJP warned of renewed protests, accusing authorities of violating an alleged “agreement” regarding police action against demonstrators. The party also mentioned that officials shared notifications from the Bihar and Assam governments that would provide relief to protesters.
In a message shared late at night on the social media platform X, CJP’s chief spokesperson Saurav Das reported that the meeting with government representatives lasted about two to three hours, focusing on ensuring legal protection for those involved in the protests.
Das stated, “A few hours after our press conference, government representatives met with us. The meeting lasted two to three hours. They shared copies of the notifications from Bihar and Assam, stating that FIRs against protesters would be withdrawn, no future action would be taken, and all detained and arrested individuals would be released.”
He further claimed, “They also reiterated that notifications would be issued by the central government and other BJP/NDA-ruled states by tomorrow. It is expected that the agreed-upon language will be used. No protester will be left alone. We are all in this fight together.”
Following this, Saurav Das mentioned that the party received new assurances regarding Rajasthan, where no legal action would be taken against those involved in the protests.
He said, “After the notifications from Bihar and Assam, we have now been assured that no authority will take action against protesters in Rajasthan. No FIR has been filed, nor will any be filed.”
In a video message released after the meeting, Das expressed that CJP representatives raised concerns with the government about the possibility of these assurances not being implemented, leading them to demand written guarantees.
He added, “We told them that we are concerned that the assurances provided by the government may not be fulfilled. In response, they brought a press release from the Bihar Home Department, stating that all FIRs against protesters would be withdrawn and no future action would be taken against them.”
