New Delhi, August 28: Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasized the critical role of good governance in India’s development during a meeting with a delegation from the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) on Friday. He highlighted the significant contributions of company secretaries to the nation’s progress.
According to a ministry statement, Singh noted that the professional expertise of company secretaries could play a vital role in strengthening governance practices within the corporate and economic ecosystem.
As the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh stressed the importance of fostering a robust culture of ethical entrepreneurship and good governance. He acknowledged the pivotal role of professional institutions like ICSI in promoting governance standards and facilitating institutional excellence.
Singh also referenced ICSI’s initiatives related to panchayat governance and local body governance, commending the institute’s efforts in preparing manuals and training materials in multiple languages.
He praised ICSI’s initiatives towards the digitalization of institutional processes, which include adopting electronic voting and a preference-based voting system for elections.
Jitendra Singh underscored the significance of good corporate governance and professional excellence, highlighting the growing role of company secretaries in India’s governance ecosystem.
