New Delhi, June 13: BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh has sharply criticized Mamata Banerjee’s leadership in the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He claims that Banerjee is promoting Abhishek Banerjee, which is contributing to the party’s current struggles.
In a conversation with a news agency, Vallabh stated that TMC’s situation is deteriorating. While Kalyan Banerjee considers Mamata his leader, she, in turn, views Abhishek as her leader. The internal dynamics of TMC remain unclear to many.
Vallabh described Shatrughan Sinha as a serious, respected leader engaged in positive politics, with a substantial following across the country. However, he noted that despite Sinha’s acknowledgment of Banerjee as his leader, she is not presenting herself as a leader of that caliber on a national level.
Discussing the Indian economy, Vallabh asserted that India has become synonymous with growth and controlled inflation. Despite global political and geopolitical challenges, various international agencies project India’s growth rate to remain around 6.5 percent. India continues to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world.
Targeting the opposition, Vallabh stated that they do not trust any government statistics. He referenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the Indian economy is a “dead economy.” Vallabh accused the opposition of relying more on external sources than on Indian institutions and government surveys.
Citing inflation data, he mentioned that retail inflation stood at 3.93 percent in May 2026, up from 3.48 percent in April. The food inflation rate was recorded at 4.78 percent, indicating it is under control. Vallabh emphasized that these figures reflect the strength, resilience, and robust infrastructure of the Indian economy. He claimed that policies implemented under ‘Modinomics’ over the past 12 years have further empowered the country’s economic framework.
