Dhanbad, May 6: Dhanbad’s notorious gangster Prince Khan faces significant legal challenges as police make strides against his gang. Last month, a gang member named Syed Abbas Naqvi, also known as Saifi or Major, was arrested at Kolkata Airport. During his remand, he provided crucial insights into the gang’s criminal network, international connections, and funding methods.
Dhanbad’s SSP Prabhat Kumar held a press conference on Wednesday, revealing that the arrested suspect had been actively involved in extortion, shootings, and bombings in the district for an extended period. He admitted to his involvement in nearly three dozen criminal cases during questioning.
The SSP disclosed that under police pressure, Prince Khan fled to Pakistan and has now allied with the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed. However, the police are independently investigating these international connections.
According to authorities, Major was responsible for the gang’s technical and financial operations. He facilitated virtual numbers, made threatening calls, and transferred extortion money to Prince Khan via hawala, bank transfers, and Bitcoin. The investigation revealed that over 100 bank accounts were used for these transactions.
Major also disclosed the gang’s involvement in several high-profile criminal cases, including the murders of Ranjit Singh and Nanha Khan, as well as incidents of gunfire and bombings targeting local businessmen.
Police indicated that the murder of recovery agent Upendra Singh in 2023 was orchestrated by the gang. Investigations have also uncovered that the gang utilized some media personnel to instill fear, while inquiries into connections with white-collar criminals and political figures are ongoing.
SSP Prabhat Kumar warned that some local businessmen are still sending money to the gang. He emphasized that providing financial support to Prince Khan is a serious offense and will be treated as funding terrorism. Currently, the police are conducting an in-depth investigation into the entire network and are actively raiding to apprehend other gang members.
