Galaxy S27 Ultra Set to Feature LPDDR6 RAM with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro

Mumbai, March 28: Recent leaks suggest that the Galaxy S27 Ultra may be among the first smartphones to incorporate the new LPDDR6 RAM, promising significant performance enhancements.

According to the latest information, this device is expected to pair LPDDR6 RAM with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. This combination would position it as one of the earliest Android phones to transition from LPDDR5X, which remains the standard for most current flagship models.

On paper, LPDDR6 represents a substantial advancement. It is anticipated to deliver higher bandwidth and improved efficiency, thanks to modifications in memory channel structures. In practical terms, users can expect smoother multitasking, faster app loading times, and enhanced performance during demanding tasks such as gaming or on-device AI operations. While the impact may not be overwhelmingly dramatic, it should be noticeable.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset is also expected to be a significant upgrade. Qualcomm is reportedly developing two versions: the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and a more powerful Pro variant. The Pro version is likely to feature a “superior” Adreno 850 GPU with 18MB GMEM, while the standard model may utilize an Adreno 845 GPU with 12MB GMEM. Both chipsets are said to adopt a 2+3+3 CPU configuration and could be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, enhancing efficiency.

Meanwhile, Samsung is continuing its work on its own processors, the Exynos 2700 and Exynos 2800. However, early indications suggest that the Ultra model will primarily rely on Qualcomm’s chipset in most markets.

It’s important to note that adopting newer memory standards and advanced chipsets typically results in increased costs. With DRAM and storage prices already on the rise, it is likely that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be priced higher than its predecessor.

Although it is still early in the development process and many factors could change before the official launch, if these details are accurate, the S27 Ultra could be a pioneering Android device that fully embraces next-generation hardware.
