Former TMC Leader Responds to Attack on Mamata Banerjee: Peoples Anger Surfaces After 15 Years

Kolkata, August 10: Former spokesperson of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Riju Dutta, has expressed strong reactions regarding the recent attack on Mamata Banerjee. He stated that the anger of the people, built up over 15 years, is now surfacing. However, Dutta also condemned the incident.

In an interview with a news agency, Dutta remarked, “If a three-time Chief Minister is on the streets, it is the government’s responsibility to ensure her safety. Such incidents should not occur in any civilized society.”

He further emphasized, “We must remember what happened during Mamata Banerjee’s tenure. How stones were thrown at the then BJP national president JP Nadda? How there were attempts on his life? How Dilip Ghosh, who is now a minister, was attacked? How there was a conspiracy to burn the current Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, alive in Cooch Behar? All these incidents occurred during Mamata Banerjee’s rule. Karma always returns.”

Dutta also mentioned that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated that Mamata Banerjee has ‘Z Plus’ security. He advised that if she plans to go anywhere, she should inform the police. The incident occurred because she left without notice, he added.

He reiterated that the anger of the people, built over 15 years, is now manifesting. “This is the people’s anger; there is little anyone can do about it. However, I urge the government to provide the necessary security for a former woman Chief Minister,” he said.

Regarding the CID inquiry into Abhishek Banerjee’s PA, Sumit Roy, Dutta commented, “The CID is investigating. There are several FIRs against Sumit Roy, including serious allegations. Some cases involve extortion, while others concern selling government land, job selling, and intimidating people for money.”

Dutta noted that the investigation is taking place under the Supreme Court’s directives. Whenever the police call him, Sumit Roy must appear. He also mentioned that Roy is a significant figure, as he possesses a complete record of corruption during the TMC’s 15-year rule, from Darjeeling to Diamond Harbour.
