West Bengal Police Busts Major Drug Trafficking Racket in Malda

West Bengal CM praises police for dismantling a drug trafficking ring, seizing nearly 2.7 kg of morphine in Malda.

Malda, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari commended the state’s Special Task Force (STF) on Sunday for successfully dismantling a major drug trafficking operation in Malda district.

In a statement shared on social media, the Chief Minister highlighted the significant success in the ongoing crackdown against drug gangs. The STF intercepted a vehicle near Madhughat on National Highway-12, recovering approximately 2.688 kilograms of banned morphine.

According to the Chief Minister, four key individuals linked to this inter-state drug trafficking racket have been arrested. He emphasized that a special case has been initiated to eradicate the entire network.

Suvendu Adhikari praised the swift and coordinated actions of the West Bengal police and STF personnel, expressing gratitude for their unwavering commitment to duty. He warned drug traffickers and syndicate operators that strict action would be taken against them, reinforcing the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking to protect the youth and support the mission for a drug-free India.

Since taking office as the ninth Chief Minister of West Bengal earlier this year, Adhikari has been vocal against organized drug trafficking and illegal liquor operations across various regions of the state. He noted the urgent need to combat such trafficking networks and illegal liquor dens to prevent other social evils, particularly crimes against women.

The state police have been notably proactive in this matter, successfully dismantling several drug trafficking gangs and destroying numerous illegal liquor establishments in recent months. The Chief Minister has consistently praised these successes via social media, boosting the morale of the state police in their efforts.
