New Delhi, April 2: Playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a dream for every cricketer. Many players have seen their fortunes change overnight due to stellar performances in this league. However, some notable players have never had the opportunity to participate in the IPL. Here are five such cricketers.

James Anderson: The former England fast bowler James Anderson is among those who never played in the IPL. At 42, he even entered his name for the auction, but no team showed interest in acquiring him. Anderson is the only fast bowler to have taken over 700 wickets in Test cricket.

Stuart Broad: English fast bowler Stuart Broad also never got a chance to play in the IPL. He was bought by Punjab Kings in the 2011 auction but had to withdraw from the tournament due to injury. Following this, Broad chose to distance himself from the IPL and prioritized Test cricket instead.

Alastair Cook: Renowned as one of the great Test batsmen, Alastair Cook did not find success in T20 cricket. The shortest format of the game did not suit him, which is why he never became a part of the IPL. Cook is the second-highest run-scorer for England in Test cricket, amassing 12,472 runs in his career.

Mushfiqur Rahim: Bangladeshi cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has also never played in the IPL. He has submitted his name for the auction several times, but no team has shown any interest in signing him.

Reeza Hendricks: South African opener Reeza Hendricks is another player who has never had the chance to play in the IPL. While he has participated in various T20 leagues, he has not been able to earn the trust of any IPL team.
