Fires Across India Leave Thousands Homeless Amid Panic

New Delhi, March 12: On Thursday, devastating fires in various parts of the country, including Delhi and Gujarat, caused widespread panic among the public. Although firefighting efforts managed to bring the flames under control, these incidents have left thousands of families in distress. Many individuals are receiving treatment in hospitals for burn injuries, while numerous families have lost their homes.

In the Matiala area of Delhi, a massive fire near the fish market destroyed approximately 400 shanties. The fire was reported at 11:54 PM and was extinguished by 3:25 AM with the help of 25 fire engines. Residents fled their homes in fear.

A local woman shared, “I don’t know how the fire started. I was at the hospital with my children and wasn’t here. Everything we had burned down; it’s all gone. We are very poor, and now we have no roof over our heads or food to eat.”

Another woman lamented, “Everything we owned has turned to ashes. Nothing is left. I don’t know who started the fire, and the fire trucks arrived an hour late, which destroyed everything. Now we are left hungry and thirsty.”

Similarly, a fire broke out late Wednesday night in the Mansaram Park area of Delhi. The PS Bindapur received the alert at 11:57 PM. Police and firefighters acted quickly to evacuate residents.
