Anantnag, August 2: Farooq Abdullah, the president of the National Conference, has responded to recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He has criticized the government for its handling of the situation.
In a conversation with reporters, Abdullah stated, “Recently, a police constable was shot, and two migrant workers were also targeted. I want to ask, who is responsible for these murders? You claim that terrorism has ended, but if that’s true, who are these attackers? If the entire border is under control, where are these assailants coming from?”
He further added, “Since 2019, we were told that conditions would improve, but has terrorism truly ended? We are merely demanding our rights and dignity back.” Regarding Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, he remarked, “They are our brothers too. If they are suffering, we have repeatedly said that this issue needs attention. The United Nations is a large organization, and its Human Rights Wing is significant. They should investigate the situation there. Yet, everyone remains silent; no country is taking action.”
When asked about PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, he replied, “I will not respond to Mehbooba Ji. She says what she wants.”
It is noteworthy that there have been two terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir within ten days. Authorities have identified that the first attack in Anantnag and the second in Kulgam were orchestrated by ‘The Resistance Front,’ a group affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. Agencies believe that Lashkar is reverting to its old strategy of using allied organizations to target civilians in Kashmir.
Investigations are underway regarding the involvement of a Lashkar-e-Taiba member in these attacks. Evidence suggests that the assault was indeed carried out by Lashkar. Latif has collaborated with Lashkar commander Zakir Ganai, during which he executed attacks in Anantnag, Shopian, and Kulgam.
