Explosion Causes Building Collapse in Varanasi, Two Rescued
An explosion linked to illegal firecracker production led to a building collapse in Varanasi, injuring two and trapping one woman.

Varanasi, October 15 (Daily Kiran) : A two-story building in Varanasi collapsed following a powerful explosion on Thursday, injuring two individuals and trapping a woman beneath the debris. The incident took place in the Pygamberpur area of the Sarnath police station jurisdiction.
Initial reports suggest that an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit was operating inside the building, raising concerns about the presence of highly flammable materials that may have triggered the blast.
Two people were injured and have been transported to a hospital for treatment. Rescue operations are currently underway to free the woman trapped under the rubble.
DCP Rajesh Pandey confirmed that they received reports of the collapse around 5 PM. Upon arrival, officials found firecrackers scattered throughout the area, indicating that the explosion likely originated from the firecrackers.
Local residents reported that a woman was still trapped, prompting ongoing rescue efforts.
In response to the situation, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to reach the site promptly and expedite relief efforts. He also instructed them to ensure appropriate medical treatment for the injured and to provide necessary assistance to their families.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in August, when an explosion at an illegal firecracker manufacturing and storage facility in the Pipri police station area of Kaushambi district resulted in the deaths of eleven people and left five others seriously injured.
In light of the recent explosion, the Uttar Pradesh government announced a reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to the capture of three wanted suspects connected to the earlier incident. An official statement from Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapati confirmed the reward for information on the fugitives: Shakeel, Kahkasha Bano, and Adil.
Earlier, police apprehended the main suspect, Naushad, following a confrontation in the Charwa police station area related to the firecracker factory explosion.
