Guwahati, June 15: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced a fantastic opportunity for job seekers interested in sports. They have released an official notification inviting applications for 26 temporary positions of Sports Instructors, set to commence in August 2026.
The available positions include 2 for Athletics (Track-1 and Field-1), 1 for Badminton, 2 for Basketball, 1 for Cricket, 1 for Chess, 1 for Football, 2 for Hockey, 2 for Lawn Tennis, 1 for Squash, 2 for Swimming (1 male and 1 female), 2 for Table Tennis, 1 for Volleyball, 2 for Weightlifting, 1 for Minor Games, 1 for Water Polo, 2 for Gymnasium (1 male and 1 female), and 2 for Lifeguard roles.
Selection for these positions will be based on a practical test, shortlisting, a walk-in interview, and document verification. Selected candidates will receive a salary of ₹35,000 per month.
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed) or a diploma/certificate in coaching from a recognized university. They should also have participated in state or university-level sports competitions. For the Water Polo position, candidates must have experience as a player at the district, state, university, national, or international level. Additionally, candidates should have completed 10+2 from a recognized university along with the required qualifications.
For the Gymnasium position, candidates need a B.P.Ed degree or a certificate/diploma in fitness training from a recognized institution, along with a 10+2 qualification. Lifeguard candidates must hold a valid lifeguard certificate. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching or coaching experience.
The maximum age limit for applicants is set at 45 years. The practical test will be held on June 24 at the Old SAC Building, IIT Guwahati, with a reporting time of 8 AM. The walk-in interview will take place on June 25 at the Student Affairs Conference Room, Administrative Building, IIT Guwahati, starting at 9 AM.
Candidates attending the practical test on June 24 must arrive on time and bring their CV, original documents, a set of photocopies of all necessary documents, and two passport-sized color photographs for verification.
Initially, the job duration will be from August 2026 to May 2027 for a period of 10 months, which may be extended based on the operational needs of the Gymkhana Sports.
